The PTA sponsors two in-school assemblies per year! For the 2022-2023 school year, we hosted visits from:
Carnegie Science Center - "Chem-Mysteries"
Oscar's Reptiles
So far this 2023-2024 School year, we've had a visit from the Carnegie Science Center for the "Wild By Design" presentation!
Book Fairs
There are three Scholastic Book Fairs each year:
Fall 2023: October 2-6
Winter 2023: January 22-26
Spring 2024 (BOGO): May 6-10
Earth Day/Week
Earth Day: April 22nd each year

During the 2022-23 school year, students and staff began recycling plastic squeezable pouches to turn in for MONEY! We will continue this in the 2023-2024 school year as well!!
Field Day
A fun-filled day for the students of Bon Air to celebrate the end of the school year!
Last year 2022-2023, each class was assigned a color to wear for "Color Wars"! Parent volunteers were in school to help run games. Each kid could get a free hot dog lunch and a free icee from Kona Ice! There were relay races, dance parties and tug-of-war. Also, students got a chance to take a turn on an inflatable obstacle course!

Field Trips
The Bon Air PTA is proud to sponsor the class field trips for the students at Bon Air. The teachers plan the trips and chaperones volunteer to help make it possible! The PTA covers the cost admission for every student and teacher, as well as the cost of the bus transportation for each of the field trips. Last year the PTA sent the students on the following trips:
Kindergarten: Children's Museum
First grade: Pittsburgh Zoo
Second grade: Carnegie Science Center
Third grade: Tour of PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates
*Coverage of costs is made possible through donations to the Bon Air PTA and Fundraising campaigns throughout the year.

Holiday Workshop
A Holiday Workshop is held during December to give the students an opportunity to purchase gifts for their loved ones. This year BAPTA used Holiday Treasures to provide gifts for the students to purchase.

Reflections
National PTA's Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.
Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
