The PTA sponsors two in-school assemblies per year! For the 2023-2024 school year, we hosted visits from the Carnegie Science Center:
Wild By Design
Build it to Blast off
The students learned how to use Earth's natural material to build various equipment and in the Build it to Blast Off program students explored how scientific endeavors in space leads to improved life on Earth from new technologies.
There are three Scholastic Book Fairs each year:
Fall 2024: TBD
Winter 2025: TBD
Spring 2025 (BOGO): TBD
Earth Day: April 22nd each year
Earth Day Activities: TBD
During the 2022-23 school year, students and staff began recycling plastic squeezable pouches that are reimbursable for CASH for the PTA!
2023-2024 we collected 81.70 pounds of recyclable pouches/caps! Saved these from landfills, helped to clean and protect the Earth, and earned money for the PTA!
A fun-filled day for the students of Bon Air to celebrate the end of the school year!
Each class was assigned a color to wear for "Color Games"! Parent volunteers were in school to help run games. Each student was offered a picnic lunch and a treat from Kona Ice (paid for by the PTA)! They were able to participate in relay races, dodge ball, water relays, dance parties and tug-of-war. Also, students got a chance to take a turn on an inflatable obstacle course!
Date: TBD (Spring 2025)
The Bon Air PTA is proud to sponsor the class field trips for the students at Bon Air. The teachers plan the trips and chaperones volunteer to help make it possible! The PTA covers the cost admission for every student and teacher, as well as the cost of the bus transportation for each of the field trips. Last year the PTA sent the students on the following trips:
Kindergarten: Children's Museum
First grade: Pittsburgh Zoo
Second grade: Carnegie Science Center
Third grade: Tour of PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates
*Coverage of costs is made possible through donations to the Bon Air PTA and Fundraising campaigns throughout the year.
Thank you for helping us help our kids enjoy learning and experience new things each year!*
A Holiday Workshop is held during December to give the students an opportunity to purchase gifts for their loved ones. In 2023, BAPTA used Holiday Treasures for the first time to provide gifts for the students to purchase.
Date: December 2024
National PTA's Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.
Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
The Spirit Week Committee coordinates multiple spirit weeks throughout the year. Each week has a theme and the students have fun dressing in their favorite sports team, color, PJs, tie dye, hats, etc. The committee also works with the school and plans a week for Red Ribbon Week. This week aims to prevent violence in the school and bring awareness and prevent drug use. This week also brings attention to the risks and damages that smoking, tobacco use and alcohol can cause.
