!!ECLIPSE UPDATE!! The school district is cancelling school on the day of the eclipse! There will be NO SCHOOL on April 8, 2024.
All students' eclipse safety glasses will be sent home with students by Friday, April 5th.
Classroom volunteers will no longer be needed that day. If you had already signed up to volunteer and have already purchased your eclipse safety glasses, you will still receive them! They will go home with your student's glasses on Friday, April 5th.
SOLAR ECLIPSE COMING ON MONDAY, APRIL 8th !!
On April 8, 2024 there will be a total solar eclipse visible from Lower Burrell. The path of totality (meaning the sun is completely covered by the moon) will pass nearby.
In Lower Burrell, we will see 97% of the sun covered by the moon! The eclipse will begin at 2:00pm with max coverage happening at 3:17pm. The eclipse will be over at 4:30pm. The next total solar eclipse visible here won't be until August 2045!!
Bon Air PTA has safety glasses available for purchase for each Burrell student and teacher/staff, district-wide. If they would like to purchase, the cost is $1 each. Student order forms have already been sent home! Note: Each student will receive a pair of glasses regardless of purchase, so they may view the eclipse safely.
Additional Community glasses are available in a VERY LIMITED supply!! The cost for community glasses is $2 each.
